KARIMNAGAR, MARCH 05, 2025: With no contestant from the Medak-Nizamabad-Adilabad-Karimnagar Graduates Constituency in the Legislative Council elections having failed to secure a mandatory majority during the counting of first-priority votes, Returning Officer and Collector Pamela Satpathy has ordered the elimination process on Wednesday morning.
The authorities counted a total of 2,23,343 valid votes after removing 28,686 invalid votes on Monday and Tuesday. After 11 rounds of counting first-priority votes, BJP contestant Anji Reddy continued to lead in all the rounds of counting.
After 11 rounds of counting, the BJP candidate Anji Reddy secured the highest of 75,675 votes, Congress aspirant V Narender Reddy secured 70,565 votes, and BSP candidate Prasanna Harikrishna got 60,419 votes.
Since 2,23,343 votes were found valid, a candidate has to get a majority of votes (1,11,672) to be declared as the winner. However, no candidate got a majority of votes. So, the officials have started the elimination process.
Till noon on Wednesday, 23 independent candidates have been eliminated by the election authorities after counting of second-priority votes.
