HYDERABAD, FEBRUARY 11, 2024: Former Karimnagar MP B Vinod Kumar has alleged that the state government was planning to redesign the Telangana state emblem by removing the symbols of ‘Kakatiya thoranam’ and ‘Charminar’ at the behest of the Telangana antagonists.
Talking to newsmen at Telangana bhavan in Hyderabad on Sunday, Mr Vinod Kumar has found fault with Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy for proposing to redesign the Telangana emblem by removing the Kakatiya thoranam and Charminar stating that they were political symbols. He reminded that the Kakatiya dynasty had ruled entire Southern parts of the state and they were instrumental in the construction of a chain of minor irrigation tanks.
Stating that the Kakatiyas had come from rulers family, but strived for the welfare of poorer sections, he said that they had constructed the Ramappa, Parkal, Laknavaram,. Ghanpur, Singasamudram minor irrigation tanks and Panagal tank in Nalgonda district. He reminded that the people of Telangana state were happily doing agriculture only because of chain of tanks constructed by Kakatiyas and it was stabilized by former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao under Mission Kakatiya programme.
The country after formation of Independence designed emblem using three lions and Ashoka chakra from Sarnath stupa, he said and asked whether those symbols were taken not taken from the dynasty rulers. He said that they would not remain silent when the government changes the Telangana emblem by removing Kakatiya thoranam and Charminar.
Alleging that the Chief Minister was planning to dilute the history of Telangana, he said that Mr Revanth Reddy was still having the shades of Telugu Desam Party. He said that former Chief Minister of integrated Andhra Pradesh N Chandrababu Naidu had opposed the Telangana slogan made by then Warangal East MLA Pranay Bhaskar in the state Assembly and then speaker Y Ramakrishnudu had also warned the legislator for raising the slogan of ‘Jai Telangana’.
Demanding the government to withdraw its proposed move to design the emblem, he informed the Ministers of the state to oppose the proposal when it would be introduced in the state cabinet meeting. He also stated that they had used the vehicles number plates at TS instead of TG as the Tamil Nadu and Tripura states were using TG. BRS leaders Roop Singh Naik, Ch Rajesh and others were also presemt.
