Women play judges as men display their culinary skills at Poshan Pakhwada programme

KARIMNAGAR, MARCH 20, 2024: In a strange competitions, the Revenue Gardens in Karimnagar town witnessed a unique competition on Wednesday wherein an exclusive cooking competition was conducted for men as part of the ongoing Poshan Pakhawada programme organised by the district women and child welfare department.

It was a day many women enjoyed watching men burn their hands while displaying their culinary skills. None of the men who participated in the competition was professional. Yet they showed exceptional elan when cooking the dishes of their choice.

They had to bring stove, gas, utensils, and all the ingredients needed for their dish. The organisers provided tables and water. Yet, enthusiasm abounded as men fiercely contested for a prize. All participants completed their dishes well within the time frame. The participants focused on natural and healthy food in the competitions.

The Asifnagar-4 Anganwadi centre of Kothapalli sector couple Suresh and Vennela bagged the first prize, ICDS supervisor Aruna, Anganwadi teacher M Padma were also provided prizes. Collector Pamala Satpathy tasted all the dishes as the judge and appreciated the menfolk for their participation and preparing delicious dishes. On this occasion, the Collector participated in the ‘Anna parsanna’ of the children at the venue.

Speaking on the occasion, the Collector called upon the people it is time to junk the junk food, which was adversely affecting the digestive system and causing several health problems. She advised the people to consume only home-made food to stay healthy and protect from the spread of diseases. Additional Collectors Praful Desai and Laxmi Kiran, CWC chairperson Dhanalaxmi, DWO Saraswathi, DMHO Dr Sujatha, DEO Ch Janardhan Rao, Poshan Abhiyaan district coordinator Nagaraju, Karimnagar Rural CDPO K Sabitha, Urban CDPO Laxminarayana, Gangadhara CDPO Kasturi and others were also present.
