Teachers gesture to save a child’s life, donate Rs 1.11 lakh to meet medical expenses

PEDDAPALLI, MAY 10, 2024: In a humane gesture, the teachers associated with the Democratic Teachers Federation (DTF) have donated Rs 1.11 lakh to meet the medical expenses of a fellow government employee son’s heart replacement surgery in Peddapalli district on Friday.

The DTF leaders led by its district president Ramakrishna Rao, Sudarshan Reddy, Ramesh and others handed over the cheque to the Rokondla Rajagopal through the hands of Collector Muzammil Khan and additional Collector Shyam Prasad Lal and DEO D Madhavi.

It may be recalled that ten-year-old Rokondla Anchith, son of Rokondla Rajagopal, senior assistant, health department, PHC Kamanpur, was suffering from heart ailment. The doctors at Narayana multi-speciality hospital in Bengaluru, were treating Anchith and said that heart replacement was the only solution for the child.

The child and the family are waiting for the heart replacement at the hospital. But, the treatment requires Rs 40 lakhs. The family was not in a position to bear such huge expenses. When this news was circulated among the teachers and other employees on social media groups, the DTF teachers responded and mobilized Rs 1.11 lakh and handed over the same to the family members.

Appreciating the noble gesture of the teachers and others who had donated voluntarily to save a life, the Collector informed all other employees to come forward and donate liberally to a save a child’s life and his bright future. The Collector, Additional Collectors and others district officials have also come forward  and donated for the treatment of child.
