Suno Bengal, Suno Bharath: IMA Karimnagar chapter participates in nationwide hunger strike to support Bengal Doctors

KARIMNAGAR, OCTOBER 15, 2024:  The Indian Medical Association (IMA) Karimnagar Chapter launched the day-long hunger strike from dawn to dusk on Tuesday morning to express their solidarity with junior doctors in West Bengal, who have been advocating for justice in the wake of traffic rape and murder of the young physician at RG Kar Medical College an Hospital in Kolkatta on August 9.

Under the banner of ‘Suno Bengal, Suno Bharath, the IMA doctors led by its president Dr Anamalla Naresh participated in the hunger strike carrying placards and banners appealing the West Bengal government to solve the legitimate demands of Junior Doctors of Bengal.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Naresh said that the young doctors of Kolkatta are on fast unto death struggle for their legitimate demands since last 10 days. Their health condition is deteriorating, but the West Bengal remained a mute spectator, he said that the government should provide full security in all medical colleges across the country and fix duty hours for the junior doctors and ensure a security work environment, he stated.
