
BADRACHALAM, OCTOBER 15, 2024: Suspected Maoists naxalites are using the empty beer bottles as an ‘explosive device’ targeting the police in the forests of the Telangana and Chatisgarh state borders.
Freshly, the CRPF personnel belonging to the 81 battalion have discovered empty beer bottles filled with explosives along with the detonators in Pusaguppa village of Cherla mandal in Badradhri-Kothogudem district during their combing operations in the forests recently. Later, they defused the explosives filled in the beer bottle.

The Maoists naxalites have used the empty beer bottles as explosive device to avoid suspicion by the police while conducting coming operation and area domination in the forests. The three beer bottle explosives were targeted at security personnel during their combing operations.
But, the alert the CRPF personnel suspected some foul play over the presence of beer bottles in the deep jungles and they neared them found explosives in the bottle along with detonators. The naxalites plan was to cause more damage to the security forces by detonating the ‘beer explosive device’ so that the personnel sustain serious injuries with explosive material containing iron pellets and glass pieces of the bottle, the sources said.
Earlier, the naxalites used landmines targeting the police. When the police started detecting the landmines, the naxalites later used claymore mines by tying them to the tree branches. Last few years, they started booby traps targeting the police. But, the booby traps claimed several civilians in Telangana and Chatisgarh state.
Sources said that the naxalites are adopting different tactics to target the security personnel involved in the combing operation. However, with the detection of booby traps and freshly the beer explosive devices, the police have sounded high alert during the combing operations and instructed to scan the area thoroughly for any suspect object in the forests, the sources said.
