KARIMNAGAR, NOVEMBER 27, 2024: The Women Empowerment Cell and the Health Club of the Government Degree College for women in Karimnagar town, organised a workshop on menstrual health and hygiene for the benefit of students on Wednesday.
Dr Srija Baddam from Atom Hospital in Karimnagar town guided and explained to the girls that adolescence is a crucial stage when they undergo hormonal changes, providing them with the right guidance and motivation that they have to develop healthy attitudes and lifestyles.
The session began with a comprehensive overview of menstruation, its biological processes, and common myths and misconceptions. Dr Srija spoke about the menstrual cycle, menstrual hygiene products, and the importance of maintaining proper menstrual hygiene to prevent infections.
One of the primary focuses of the session was to disprove the myths and misconceptions about menstruation. The Doctor also shared some tips and techniques for maintaining menstrual hygiene with the participants. She also highlighted the stigma associated with menstruation and emphasized the need to normalize conversations around it.
She also had a question-and-answer session with the students and clarified their doubts about PCOD and other menstruation issues. WEC coordinator B Rajani Devi, College principal D Varalakshmi, IQAC coordinator M Kalpana and others were also present.
