KARIMNAGAR, NOVEMBER 27, 2024: Commissioner of Police Abhishek Mohanty has stressed the coordination among all departments for regulating traffic and easing congestion at the traffic islands and other parts of Karimnagar town.
He stressed the removal of footpath encroachments, the removal of vegetable and fruit vendors from the roads and their relocation to other locations, the identification of parking lots, the creation of U-turns, the marking of Zebra crossings and stop marks, etc.
In the wake of a news report “Unauthorised auto stands a thorn in the Karimnagar town’s flesh’ published on this website on November 23, 2024, the Commissioner of Police convened a meeting with various departments including MCK, R&B, HKR transport, RTC, Smart City officials, Traffic and Law and Order police at the Commissionerate’s conference hall in Karimnagar town on Wednesday.
On this occasion, Mr Mohanty informed the officials of all the departments to coordinate their efforts in removing encroachments on the roads and footpaths. He also instructed the officials to remove unauthorized auto stands in various parts of the town, as they impede the smooth movement of traffic due to their illegal parking on the main roads and at the traffic islands.
Stating that the RTC cargo office at the in-gate at the bus stand in the town was causing traffic due to vehicles parking near the traffic junction, he informed the RTC authorities to relocate the cargo office inside the RTC bus station premises to avoid traffic snarls on the busy road. He also directed the installation of more CCTV cameras and the monitoring of their proper functioning.
For the smooth passage of traffic at the junctions, he stressed the proper regulation of traffic signals by regulating the timing of signals as per the busy movement of the traffic during peak hours. He also informed the authorities to install more CCTV cameras at the Traffic islands. Stressing the need for the blinking solar lights at the U-turns, he instructed the officials to close unnecessary U-turns and open up new U-turns where it was mandatory.
He also informed the Municipal authorities to install streetlights all along the by-pass roads in the town to reduce accidents. He informed the R&B officials to repair damaged dividers and close unnecessary dividers open the locals for their convenience and causing traffic problems and accidents.
Municipal Commissioner Chahat Bajpai, ACPs Swami, Madhavi, Latchi Reddy, Municipal DEE D Madhu, AEE (R&B) Suresh, RTC ATM Sandeep, Smart City representatives and others were also present.
