People told to play a key role to eradicate TB in the country by 2025

JAGTIAL, MARCH 23, 2024: Additional DMHO Dr N Srinivas has called upon the people to play a responsible role in the eradication of TB in the country by 2025.

Stating that TB spreads from person to person, he said incomplete treatment of the disease becomes dangerous for the patients as well as healthy persons. He said that if a person complains of cough for more than two weeks, mild fever in the evening, persistent weight loss, fatigue and loss of appetite, he should go to the nearest government health institution and get checked immediately.

On the eve of World TB day on March 24, the Additional DMHO participated in the celebrations and an awareness campaign at Urban health centre in Mothewada in Jagtial town on Saturday. He also administered a pledge on the occasion.  Speaking on the occasion, he said that the Jagtial district was reporting 1900 TB cases annually and this year till date they had detected 426 TB cases.

He said that the TB spreads rapidly among the patients suffering from diabetes, high blood pressure, HIV and dialysis patients. The people suffering from the symptoms of TB were informed to approach the district TB control centre where the CBNAAT, X-ray, sputum tests would be done free of cost, he stated.

He said that the government was taking all measures for the eradication of TB by providing medicare free of cost and also financial assistance of Rs 500 per month for the patient for the nutritional support. The patient providers and ASHA workers were also given an incentive of Rs 1,000 per the identification of TB patient. Doctors Geethika, Sravani, Swathi, DPPM K Harish, health supervisors and others were also present.
