DCA officials raid a pharmacy running in a clinic and a medical shop running illegally without licences and seized drugs

HYDERABAD, FEBRUARY 06, 2024: Officials of Telangana Drugs Control Administration raided a clinic at Ramanthpur, Medchal-Malkajgiri district which is operating a medical shop illegally without a drug licence and seized huge stocks of medicines worth Rs 3.05 lakhs.

In another incident, the DCA officials raided a medical shop at Limba (K) village in Kuntala mandal of Nirmal district, which is running illegally without a drug licence and seize huge stock of drugs worth Rs 1.6 lakhs.

DCA Director General VB Kamalasan Reddy said that on credible information about the illegal sale of medicines at Sri Sai Clinic in Sharadanagar, Ramanthapur, by P Shailaja, who is running a  medical shop illegally in the clinic without a drug licence. During the raid, DCA officers detected unauthorized stocking of huge quantity of medicines for sale. About 50 varieties of medicines including higher generation antibiotics, abortifacient drugs, IV fluids, anti-diabetic drugs, anti-fungal drugs, anti-hypertensive drugs, analgesics, anti-ulcer drugs, cough syrups  etc. are found stocked for sale at the premises.  DCA officials seized the stock of total worth Rs. 3.05 lakhs during the raid.

Dr. V. Balanaganjan, Assistant Director, Shameerpet,  G. Indira Priyadarshini, Drugs Inspector, Habsiguda,  B. Lakshminarayana, Drugs Inspector, Uppal are among the officers who carried out the raid. DCA officers lifted the samples for analysis. Further investigation shall be carried out and action shall be taken as per the law against all the offenders.

In another incident, the DCA officials raided a medical shop at Limba (K) Village, Kuntala Mandal, Nirmal District which is running illegally by Mamulla Jeevan without a drug licence and seized 125 varieties of huge stocks of medicines worth Rs. 1.60 lakhs.

During the raid, DCA officers detected unauthorized stocking of huge quantity of medicines for sale. 125 varieties of medicines including antibiotic injections, steroids, analgesics, anti ulcer drugs, cough syrups etc. are found stocked for sale at the premises. DCA officials seized the stock of total worth Rs. 1.60 lakhs during the raid.

Narsaiah, Assistant Director, Nizamabad, A. Srilatha, Drugs Inspector, Nirmal, R. Srilatha, Drugs Inspector, Nizamabad (Rural) and V. Srikanth, Drugs Inspector, Nizamabad (Urban) are among the officers who carried out the raid. DCA officers lifted the samples for analysis. Further investigation shall be carried out and action shall be taken as per the law against all the offenders.

Public may enter the name of the pharmacy or medical shop in the ‘search box’ under ‘Third Party Verification’ of ODLS website https://odls.telangana.gov.in/ThirdPartypublicview.aspx and verify the details of the drug licences issued by Drugs Control Administration, Telangana to the medical shop/pharmacy, to check whether the medical shop/pharmacy is authorized to sell medicines or not.
