Congress leader alleges that the Karimnagar Mayor had amassed huge wealth illegally in the name of Smart City works
He reminded that Ponnam Prabhakar as MP secured MCHC hospital, regional passport centre, FM radio, City buses, train to Tirupati and more
KARIMNAGAR, SEPTEMBER 10, 2024: TPCC secretary Vaidhyula Anjan Kumar has rebuffed the allegations made by Karimnagar Mayor Y Sunil Rao against the Minister for Transport and BC Welfare Ponnam Prabhakar.
Reacting to the statements made by the Mayor against the Minister for the conduct of review meetings with Municipal officials and Medical and health officials in Karimnagar town when he was minister for Siddipet district, Mr Anjan Kumar reminded that Mr Ponnam Prabhakar is Minister for the entire Telangana state and he has every right to conduct to review meetings of any departments.
He asked whether the Mayor, who is the first citizen of Karimnagar, had ever formally met the Minister, who belongs to Karimnagar town, and submitted any petition seeking government funds for the development of the town. Ridiculing the allegations against Mr Prabhakar, he reminded that Mr Prabhakar as Karimnagar MP secured the Mother and Child Health care centre, FM radio station, Regional Passport Office, Railway train to Tirupati, City bus services under JNNURM scheme and more.
Alleging that the Mayor was unable to digest a BC minister conducting review meetings with the officials, he said that they would soon expose the corruption in the MCK under the leadership of the Mayor and how amassed huge wealth illegally. Municipal Corporators Ch Butchi Reddy, Kashetty Srinivas, Pittala Srinivas, Ganta Srinivas, former corporator Macherla Prasad, Arif Mohammed, Parishetty Bhumaiah, Haimad Ali, Rola Satish, Kankanala Anil, Imran, Sarwar, Devender Patel, M Prakash, Abdul Wasim and others were also present.
Earlier, at another press conference, Karimnagar Mayor Y Sunil Rao asked whether Mr Ponnam Prabhakar was the Minister for the Karimnagar district or Siddipet district from where he was elected as legislator from Husnabad assembly segment. He charged that Mr Prabhakar claims to be the Karimnagar Minister. Still, he had not secured a single paisa for the development of the Karimnagar since he attained power 10 months ago.
Referring to the conduct of a review meeting with the Municipal officials in Karimnagar town three months ago, he asked whether the Minister had bought any funds after conducting the review meeting. “If he is unable to secure funds for MCK then why did he conduct a review meeting”, he questioned.
