CPI leaders offer floral tributes to Baddam Yella Reddy on his 45th death anniversary
KARIMNAGAR, DECEMBER 27, 2024: Rich tributes were paid to the first Member of Parliament from the Karimnagar parliament constituency and CPI leader Baddam Yella Reddy on his 45th death anniversary by garlanding his statue in Karimnagar town on Friday.
Speaking on the occasion, CPI district secretary Mari Venkat Swamy said Mr Baddam Yella Reddy crusaded against the Nizams, Razakars and Deshmukhs in the region. Reminding that he fought against the bonded labour, he said that he raised the slogan of ‘Land to the tiller’ and played a crucial role during the liberation of Telangana from the clutches of Nizam rulers through Telangana armed struggle.
Mr Yella Reddy, a native of Galipelli village of Illanthakunta mandal in the integrated Karimnagar district, was attracted by Mahatma Gandhi’s freedom struggle and participated in the Independence movement and went to jail. Mr Yella Reddy along with Communist leader Raavi Narayan Reddy, Mugdhum Mohiuddin and others participated in the Andhra Mahasabha and Communist party movement.
He had become the MP from the Karimnagar parliament constituency in the first general elections after Independence. He had become a legislator from Indurthi and Buggaram assembly segments in the Karimnagar district. He was also a Rajya Sabha member. The CPI leaders Boini Ashok, Tekumalla Sammaiah, AISF state president Kasiredy Manikanta Reddy, CPI district council members Paidipalli Raju, B Yugander, Budida Sadashiva and others also offered floral tributes to Baddam Yella Reddy.
