KARIMNAGAR, NOVEMBER 01, 2024: The MIM Karimnagar town unit has urged the Telangana State Commission for Backward Classes Commission Chairman Gopishetty Niranjan to include Muslim communities Syed, Pathan (Khan), Moghal (Baig) and Shafai (Chaush) in BC E category and provide reservations in education and employment.
The MIM delegation led by its town president Syed Ghulam Ahmed Hussain and others met the BC Commission, which had visited Karimnagar town to collect public hearings from various sections of society on Friday. Reminding that the then Congress government led by Dr YS Rajashekhar Reddy had introduced four percent reservations to Muslims in the integrated Andhra Pradesh state, Mr Ahmed said that presently Shaik community is availing the reservations and four other communities were denied of the same.
Stating that the Karnataka and Tamil States were providing reservations to all communities of Muslims equally, he urged the BC commission to include the above four communities in the BC E category and provide reservations. He also urged the government to increase the present reservations from four per cent to 10 per cent for the Muslims in the state.
Alleging that some people belonging to the BC B category in collusion with revenue authorities were securing BC E category certificates, he also urged the Commission to see that the BC B category community should not get BC E category certificates. Former deputy Mayor Mohd Abbas Sami, MIM leaders Syed Barkat Ali, Syed Moiudding Quadri Yusuf, Athina Atheef, Kamaruddin, Ibrahim, corporators Ali Baba, Azar Dabeer and others were also present.
