KARIMNAGAR, SEPTEMBER 22, 2024: To spread awareness against drugs and give healthy guidance to the young generation, the Karimnagar Half Marathon was organised by Raichandani Sindh Developments (RSD), in association with the Telangana Tourism Department, in Karimnagar town on Sunday morning.
There was an overwhelming response to the marathon with the participation of several thousands of people right from tiny tots of various schools to senior citizens and veteran sports persons. The marathon was flagged off from the Ambedkar stadium passed through various prominent places in the city and ended back at the stadium.
The half-marathon was organised in four different categories–timed half marathon run, timed internationally acclaimed (21 kms and (10 kms), (5 kms) and (3 kms). The event was also sponsored by Karimnagar Dairy, IVY digital Siddartha school, Usha Skin and Laser Centre, John Deere, Suma Addiction and Rehabilitation Centre, and Shaheen Junior College.
Collector Pamela Satpathy, Municipal Commissioner Chahat Bajpai, ACP Narender, and others including eminent doctors, government officials, students from private schools and colleges and womenfolk participated in large numbers in the marathon enthusiastically. The Collector praised this awareness campaign against drugs and said that it is very important to organise such an awareness programme to protect our society and especially the youth from the scourge of drugs.
Karimnagar Dairy, which is one of the sponsors, has distributed over 10,000 buttermilk sachets to the participants to quench their thirst and check dehydration.
