International Customs Day-2025 celebrated in Hyderabad

HYDERABAD, FEBRUARY 15, 2025: The Hyderabad Customs Department celebrated International Customs Day 2025 with the theme of “Customs Delivering on its Commitment to Efficiency, Security and Prosperity” on Saturday (February 15, 2025) at Dasarathi Auditorium, Dr.MCR HRD Institute, Road No. 25, Jubilee Hills, Hyderabad.

Telangana High Court Judge Justice P Sam Koshy was the chief guest. On this occasion, he said that the World Customs Organization (WCO) introduced International Customs Day to acknowledge the efforts of customs officers in preventing illegal trade, protecting national economies, and ensuring seamless international transactions. Customs agencies play a crucial role in monitoring cross-border trade, enforcing regulations, and fostering economic stability. Customs administrations must necessarily ensure that a proper balance is struck between enforcement and facilitation, the Judge said.

Key Focus Areas in 2025:

  1. Efficiency: The modernization of customs operations through digitalization, automation to expedite trade processes.
  2. Security: Strengthening efforts to combat smuggling, drug trafficking, counterfeit goods, and money laundering.
  3. Prosperity: Ensuring fair revenue collection, promoting domestic industries, and facilitating economic development through international trade.

On this occasion, customs officials, trade associations, and partner government agencies reiterated their commitment to fostering efficiency, security, and prosperity. The ongoing reforms and technological advancements in customs operations are expected to further enhance India’s global trade position, making it a key player in the international market.

Ajazuddin, IRS, Principal Commissioner, Hyderabad Customs presented the Welcome Address. Sandeep Prakash, IRS, Principal Chief Commissioner, Hyderabad Zone has delivered the keynote address. The Guests of Honours; G.V. Prasad, Co-Chairman & MD, Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories and  C. Prasanna, Executive Director, GMR Group also addressed the gathering.

Importers, exporters, Customs Brokers, custodians of various CFSs, ICDs and Airport including representatives of several Public Sector Enterprises, and other stakeholders, have attended the event. The Chief Guest Justice P. Sam Koshy has awarded merit Certificates to the Meritorious Officers of Customs department and top Exporters & Importers of Telangana.
