HYDERABAD, DECEMBER 19, 2024: Officials of the Drugs Control Administration, Telangana, conducted raids on two medical shops operating illegally without a drug license at Vampuguda, Kapra, Medchal-Malkajgiri District, and Banda Maisamma Nagar, near Indira Park, Hyderabad, and seized the stocks.
In a separate event, the Drugs Control Administration, Telangana seized ‘Kondapindi Leaf Powder,’ an Ayurvedic medicine, in Sathupally, Khammam District for making misleading advertisement that it treats ‘Kidney Stones’.
In an official release here on Thursday, DCA Director General VB Kamalasan Reddy said that the DCA officials of Quthbullapur Zone, acting on credible information regarding the illegal sale of medicines, raided a medical shop by name Sri Sai Bhavani Medical and General Stores, situated at Krishna Nagar Colony, Vampuguda, Kapra, Medchal-Malkajgiri District, on 18th December 2024. The medical shop was found to be operating illegally at the said premises without a valid drug licence. In a separate operation, DCA officials of Secunderabad Zone, acting on credible information regarding the illegal sale of medicines, raided a medical shop operating in Banda Maisamma Clinic, In Community Hall, Ground floor, Beside Banda Maisamma Temple, Banda Maisamma Nagar, Near Indira Park, Hyderabad, on 18th December 2024. The medical shop was also found to be operating illegally at the said premises without a valid drug licence.
During the two raids, DCA officers detected unauthorized stocking of huge quantity of medicines for sale. A total of 76 varieties of medicines including Antibiotics, Steroids, Antiulcer drugs, IV fluids, Antihypertensive drugs, etc. were found stocked for sale at the said two premises. The officials seized the stock of total worth Rs. 35,000 during the raids. D. Saritha, Assistant Director, Secunderabad, T. Shiva Teja, Drugs Inspector, Kapra, P. Renuka, Drugs Inspector, Musheerabad, B. Govind Singh, Drugs Inspector, Secunderabad, G. Anil, Drugs Inspector, Malakpet, E. Thirupathi, Drugs Inspector, Quthbullapur, M. Surendranath, Drugs Inspector, Begumpet are among the officers who carried out the raids.
Seizure of drugs for misleading advertisements:
Drugs Control Administration officials of Khammam Zone detected an ayurvedic medicine ‘Kondapindi Leaf Powder,’ moving in the market with misleading claim on its label that it treats ‘Kidney Stones’ which is a contravention of the Drugs and Magic Remedies (Objectionable Advertisements) Act, 1954. The said ayurvedic medicine was manufactured by Sri Amulya Herbals, D. No. 76-8/9-8, Das Street, Bhavanipuram, Vijayawada. The said ayurvedic medicine was detected by DCA officials at a store in Sathupalli, Khammam District. Stocks were seized during the raid.
Advertisement of a medicine for treatment of ‘Kidney Stones’ is prohibited under Drugs and Magic Remedies (Objectionable Advertisements) Act, 1954. K. Devender Reddy, Drugs Inspector, Khammam Rural carried out the raid. Further investigation shall be carried out and action shall be taken as per the law against all the offenders.
