HANAMKONDA, OCTOBER 09, 2026: As part of the World Egg Day celebrations, the Department of Food Science and Technology & Nutrition and Dietetics, Vaagdevi Degree & P.G. College, Hanamkonda, successfully organised an Awareness Camp on the Goodness and Nutritional Value of Eggs on Friday to promote healthy dietary habits and create awareness among students about the importance of including eggs in a balanced diet.
The programme benefited a large number of students, who actively participated in an informative awareness session highlighting the exceptional nutritional value of eggs. The session emphasized that eggs are an excellent source of high-quality protein, essential vitamins, minerals, and healthy fats that support growth, immunity, brain function, muscle development, and overall health. Students were also educated about the role of eggs as an affordable, nutrient-dense food suitable for people of all age groups.
As part of the campaign, eggs were distributed to students to reinforce the message of adopting healthy and nutritious dietary practices. The initiative aimed to encourage students to make informed food choices by incorporating wholesome, affordable, and protein-rich foods into their daily diets.
The awareness programme received an enthusiastic response from both students and faculty members, highlighting the importance of nutrition education and healthy lifestyle practices in promoting overall well-being.
The programme was conducted under the guidance of A. Sheshachalam, Principal, and P. Harinder Reddy, Vice Principal. It was coordinated by Rajaprasad, IQAC Coordinator, and G. Vikram, Dean of Life Sciences and Head, Department of Food Science and Technology & Nutrition and Dietetics.
Faculty members M. Lakshmi Pujitha, M. Sravanthi, Soujanya and Swetha actively participated in planning, organizing, and successfully conducting the programme, contributing significantly to its success.
The Department reaffirmed its commitment to promoting nutrition awareness and healthy eating habits through educational and community outreach programmes that inspire students to lead healthier lives.
