The college announces the constitution of the Reading Club to encourage students to read books

RAJANNA-SIRCILLA, APRIL 23, 2025: There was a special energy in the air at Shathrajupalli on April 23rd, as the students and staff of the Telangana Social Welfare residential degree college for women came together to celebrate World Book Day on Wednesday (April 23, 2025). It wasn’t just about books—it was about the joy of reading, the power of stories, and the magic of imagination.
The event was marked by heartfelt performances from students who used songs, poems, and speeches to share what reading means to them. Their creativity and enthusiasm lit up the stage and left a lasting impression on everyone present.
College Principal K. Lavanya, who attended as the chief guest, delivered an inspiring message. “Books have the power to shape our thoughts, expand our world, and guide us through life like a true friend,” she said. “That’s why it’s so important to make reading a daily habit—for children and adults alike.” She also announced the launch of a Reading Club on campus, aimed at nurturing a culture of consistent and joyful reading among students. “This club is not just about reading books,” she added, “it’s about discovering ourselves through them.”
The celebration was a collective effort, with Vice Principal B. Sumalatha, Librarian G. Srilatha, Academic Coordinator C.H. Nirmala Hridaya, Staff Secretary G. Rajini, faculty members, and students all playing a part in making the event memorable.
It was a day filled with inspiration, connection, and a renewed love for books—one that everyone will remember for a long time to come. To enhance the students’ interest in extra reading, a book exhibition was also organised in the library where various types of books, including genres like fiction, non-fiction, mythology, biography and encyclopedia, were displayed.
