The highlight of the week was a special assembly dedicated to Gidugu Venkata Ramamurthy, the revered linguist and reformer who played a pivotal role in making Telugu accessible to the common people.
Teachers and students alike shared insights into the evolution of the Telugu script, its literature, and the role it has played in shaping regional identity. Traditional folk songs and dances added a colourful touch, reminding everyone of the language’s deep roots in the culture of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. The celebrations culminated in a grand finale that honoured the contributions of Telugu scholars and emphasized the importance of preserving and promoting this beautiful language for future generations.
Congratulating the teachers and students for their colourful presentations on the importance of Telugu language, School Managing Director Anudeep Sowgani said Ramamurthy was the first person who strove for popularising Telugu prose in colloquial language as against the chaste and literary form of Telugu that was the norm in pre-independence era. His objective was to promote the Telugu prose in a simple language so that even common people could understand it and brought out the beauty in the spoken language.
