HYDERABAD, DECEMBER 19, 2024: The National Mathematics Day was celebrated at The Play School, Sister Nivedita School, Ameerpet, Hyderabad, on Thursday.
As a prelude to the birth anniversary of Srinivasa Ramanujan, who made an exemplary contribution to mathematics, the Tiny Tots participated in the programme. Children explained the importance of mathematics through speeches and couplets. A quiz programme was organised, in which students of all four houses participated.
“The essence of Math is not to make simple things complicated, but to make complicated things simple”.
Mathematics can be tough sometimes, but Mathematics is the only subject that shows any problem has a solution. Mathematics can be fun, challenging, hands-on, and applicable in real life.
National Mathematics Day is celebrated on December 22nd across the nation every year to honour one of the greatest mathematicians, Sri Srinivas Ramanujan who made exemplary contributions to Mathematics. To celebrate the spirit of mathematical learning, experience the joy of the mathematical sphere, and explore various mathematical concepts creatively.
The Play School, Sister Nivedita School, and Ameerpet gear up to observe this day on a grand scale. Children had a week-long celebration through a myriad of activities and competitions. A recitation competition was conducted for Senior Toddlers (Nursery), in which they dressed up in different shapes and recited the rhymes about their favourite shape. Mrs. B. Sarika and Mrs. B. Swathi, teachers of Senior Discoverer judged the event. A Quiz Competition was conducted for Junior and Senior Discoverers (LKG and UKG ). Mrs. Amith Kaur, Ms. M. Vasavi Latha, and Mrs. M. Subhanjali, teachers of The Play School were the witnesses for the quiz competition.
Students showcased their extraordinary skills and mathematical concepts, captivating everyone with their creativity. It was a fun-filled and joyful day of learning for children who exhibited unparalleled excitement and actively participated in all activities. The principal, Dr. T. Lalitha Kumari, graced the occasion and appreciated the efforts of the children and the teachers.
The best performances were awarded by the principal madam and she appreciated the inspiring budding mathematicians and encouraged them to pursue their passion and strive for excellence.
She urged that Math introduced at an early age allows children to develop strong thinking, problem-solving, and communication skills while harbouring genuine enthusiasm for the subject.
The Chairman of the school Dr. Sudhakar Rao Polsani and the Correspondent of the school Rtn. Hari Hara Prasad also appreciated and wished the children a bright future.
