KARIMNAGAR, SEPTEMBER 01, 2026: Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar has found fault with the ‘Empowered Indian’ website, a citizen-led project, for misleading information on the utilisation of the Members of Parliament Local Area Development Scheme (MPLADS) funds and placing Telangana MPs below the national average.
In a statement here on Tuesday, Mr Bandi Sanjay Kumar clarified that he had spent Rs 16.47 crore out of the sanctioned amount of Rs 17.50 crore MPLADS and is progressing at 94 per cent utilisation of funds. Terming the allegations made by the ‘Empowered Indian’ website as false and baseless, he flayed the organisation for damaging the image of the MPs with false reports.

He said that he had sanctioned 627 works in his Karimnagar parliament constituency worth Rs 16.46 crore and added that he had spent an additional Rs 2.5 crore from MPLADS sanctioned during former MP B Vinod Kumar’s period.
Stating that they were appealing to the Union government to allocate more MPLADS for developmental works, he ridiculed the Empowered Indian report for alleging that the MPs were not spending the funds. He also maintained that he was mobilising CSR funds from various organisations for taking up developmental works in his constituency.
