
KARIMNAGAR, OCTOBER 09, 2026: Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar took the Bhavani Deeksha (wearing the holy Bhavani Mala) at the famous Sri Maha Shakthi temple in Chaitanyapuri, Karimnagar town, on Friday.
The Union Minister took the spiritual vow by wearing red clothes and a holy garland (mala) amid Vedic hymn chanting by the temple priests. He will observe deeksha for 11 days during Devi Navarathri celebrations. He will be camping on the temple premises.
Accordingly, the temple authorities have erected a tent on the premises to allow visitors to meet the Union Minister during the Navarathri celebrations and submit any petitions etc.
Famous pilgrim centre in North Telangana
Sri Mahashakthi temple in Chaitanyapuri colony in Karimnagar town has become a famous pilgrimage centre in northern Telangana.
Already, several people throng the temple shrine seeking the blessings of the goddesses, and the rush of devotees would peak during the Dasara Navarathri celebrations. The temple attained distinction for serving ‘biksha’ (lunch) and alpha (dinner) to the devotees wearing Bhavani mala deeksha. Every day, more than 5,000 to 10,000 Bhavani deeksha devotees and others visit the temple for biksha (lunch) and alpa (tiffin) during these celebrations.
