NEW DELHI, FEBRUARY 10, 2025: Union Health Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda launches the National Mass Drug Administration Round for the elimination of Lymphatic Filariasis across 13 identified LF endemic states through a video conference with state health ministers and senior officers here on Monday.
The initiative aims to protect millions from this debilitating disease and accelerate India’s fight against Lymphatic Filariasis, he said and added that from February 10, medicines will be made available free of cost to over 17.5 crore population across 111 endemic districts. He calls for the implementation of five-pronged strategy for eliminating Lymphatic Filariasis ahead of the SDG goal of 2030.
Underscoring the importance of the “whole of government” approach in the spirit of Jan Andolan and Jan Bhagidari, Mr JP Nadda said “India has and will continue to remain steadfast in its commitment to eliminate Lymphatic Filariasis. Our resolve is to achieve that target by 2027”.
The Union Minister urged states and UTs to monitor the Lymphatic Filariasis elimination campaign and ensure the involvement of the political and administrative leadership at the identified district levels. While congratulating Uttar Pradesh and Odisha for their work on Filariasis elimination, he emphasised on roping in women associated with self-help groups to make the campaign successful.
