JAGTIAL, SEPTEMBER 11, 2024: The University Grants Commission (UGC) has conferred autonomous status on the Government Degree College for Women, Jagtial town, for a period of five years from the academic year 2024-25 onwards.
In a statement, college principal K Ramakrishna said the UGC had granted autonomous status to the Government Degree College, affiliated to Satavahana University, based on the report of the UGC expert committee which had visited the college few months back. The autonomous status would help the college receive development grants from the UGC as per the norms and also bring suitable changes if any required in academic matters.
Jagtial legislator Dr M Sanjay Kumar and others participated in the celebrations. Speaking on the occasion, the local legislator congratulated the principal and entire teaching community in securing the autonomous status to the college. He promised funds for the construction of examination branch, additional classrooms and other infrastructure and make the college into a model one in the district.
MLC T Jeevan Reddy also congratulated the principal by making a phone call. Municipal chairperson Jyothi Laxman, College CPDC secretary Dr Srilatha, ward member Naveen, principal K Ramakrishna, Vice principal Chandraiah, staff secretary N Sangeetha Rani, faculty members Pramod Kumar, Vasala Varaprasad, Ramchandram, Md Rahim, non-teaching staff Ramakrishna, Naveen, Suresh and others were also present.
