Ugadi celebrated with pomp and gaiety at Bhagavathi high school

KARIMNAGAR, APRIL 08, 2024: Students of Bhagavathi High School, Bhagathnagar, Karimnagar town, celebrated Ugadi festival, the Telugu New Year, known as Sri Krodhi nama samvatsara this year, with pomp and gaiety on their school campus on Monday.

The students arrived in their best traditional attire to participate in the celebrations, which began with the lighting of lamp and offering of prayers to Goddess Saraswathi by School chairman B Ramana Rao and correspondent B Vijaya Lakshmi. The school campus was colourfully decorated with ‘thoranams’ made of mango leaves and marigold flowers and neem leaves.

The teachers Swapna and Shyamala prepared the Ugadi Pachhadi and educated the students about the importance of various ingredients used in its making such as tamarind juice, raw mango, coconut, neem flowers, chilli powder, salt and others. Symbolically, Ugadi pachhadi represents the bitter and sweet experiences of life. They also explained the importance of preparation of ‘bakshalu or boppatlu’.

The students presented cultural programmes explaining the importance of Ugadi festival through a traditional dance form. They educated the importance of panchangam (almanac) for the coming year. School Chairman B Ramana Rao and correspondent B Vijaya Lakshmi greeted the students and showered blessings on them. They explained the medicinal values of Ugadi pachhadi. Incharge KL Sharanya and others were also present.
