
PEDDAPALLI, MAY 28, 2025: District Educational Officer D Madhavi has stressed on the role of society to play a crucial role in curbing human trafficking through awareness, reporting and supporting victims.
Inaugurating the two-day training programme on ‘Human Trafficking for School Assistants’ in Peddapalli town on Wednesday, the DEO said that the education, community involvement, and collaboration between different sectors are key to combating this serious issue. The training programme is being conducted by Prajwala voluntary organisation. Prajwala senior project manager Bala Ramakrishna.

Expressing concern over increasing human trafficking in the country, the DEO stressed on the need for the conduct of frequent parents meeting to empower them about the need to closely monitor the use of cellular phones by their children. She said that the traffickers were targeting only the poor and middle class girls and women by promising lucrative jobs.
Prajwala project Senior Manager Bala Ramakrishna stressed the need to check human trafficking for the protection of girl children and womenfolk. Stating that several girls and women were falling prey to human trafficking in the urban areas, he said that they had rescued more than 30,000 girls, including minors and wome,n from human trafficking.
He said that human trafficking was increasing through cyber tracking and appealed to the girls and women not to download unnecessary apps or share personal photos and videos, as they were likely to become victims of sex trafficking.
He also empowered the teachers to educate the girls about cybercrimes and measures to check crime by educating the girls to use BNS, ITPA, POCSO, PCMA, Sakhi, Bharatsa, Childline, police toll-free numbers 1098, 100, 181, 1930, 181 etc. GCDO G Kavitha, ZPHS (girls), Peddapalli headmistress T Aruna, Prajwala staff Amber Singh, district KGBV, Model schools, residential schools and other women teachers attended the programme.
