TSCOST celebrates National Science Day at Pingli Govt women’s college in Warangal

HYDERABAD, FEBRUARY 28, 2024: The Telangana State Council of Science and Technology and Environment Protection Training and Research Institute celebrated State Level Event of National Science Day celebrations at Pingli Government Women’s College, Warangal on Wednesday.

Mandal level and District level environmental painting, poetry, song and elocution competitions were conducted from the first week of February 2024 and prizes were given to the students.  The State Level function was presided over by A Vani Prasad, Principal Secretary to Government, Environment, Forest and Science & Technology Department. She said that the scientific temper, curiosity to know the truth, Creative thinking and developing innovative abilities are the need of the hour for the present generation. Countries who are rich in research infrastructure are progressing rapidly, she added.  Programmes such as National Science Day Celebrations shall motivate the students towards Science & Technology.  The Government of Telangana is contemplating a good number of S&T programmes in this direction, she informed.

Marupaka Nagesh, Member Secretary, Telangana State Council of Science and Technology said that on February 28, 1928, Sir CV Raman made the revolutionary discovery of ‘Raman Effect’ based on light in Physics and was awarded the Nobel Prize in the year 1930.  It is India’s first Nobel Prize in the field of science. In recognition of this, February 28 is being celebrated as National Science Day and this year the state level program has been organized in Warangal.

 

 

Hanumakonda District Collector Siktha Patnaik congratulated the winners and sensitised on the importance of Science & Technology in day to day life and in several important sectors. Principal of the college B  Chandramouli, school students from the districts, District Science Officers, District Science Coordinators, Teachers, parents of awardees, students and teachers of Pingle College participated in this program.
