Demands implementation of New Education Policy
Assures Health cards and insurance coverage to private teachers
KARIMNAGAR, SEPTEMBER 24, 2024: Telangana Recognised Schools Management Association (TRSMA) Chief Advisor and Educationist Yadagiri Shekhar Rao has announced to contest the ensuing Legislative Council elections from the Karimnagar Graduates Constituency.
Talking to newsmen here on Tuesday, Mr Shekhar Rao said that he had tried to contest the MLC elections from BRS ticket in 2018. However, the party had betrayed and forced him not contest the elections and offered the ticket to another leader. “But, this time I am not going back from the contest. Come what may, I will contest the Legislative council elections as an independent. I may die but I will not drop from the contest”, he pointed out.
Stating that several issues pertaining to the private schools were not being brought to the notice of the government, he said that if elected he would definitely take the issues of all private schools to the notice of government and solve them. The private educational institutions are playing a key role in providing quality education to 58 per cent of the students in the state, he said and added that the private teachers problems are not resolved by the government.
The government is collecting education Cess, but not providing health cards to the private teachers or any insurance coverage following their death, he said and found fault with the government for not implementing the New Education Policy (NEP) in Telangana state. Claiming that he was securing support from all the private school teachers, student unions, lecturers of junior and degree colleges, leaders of various political parties, he exuded confidence that he would definitely win the elections and enter Council to the raise pertaining to the education and health sectors.
He said that he had met all the private schools correspondents in the integrated Karimnagar, Medak, Nizamabad and Adilabad districts and sought their support. He said that they would take up enrolment drive of all the private school teachers in the Graduates constituency. He said that there are more than 1.75 lakh private school teachers in the constituency and all would be enrolled as Graduates constituency voters.
Earlier, the TRSMA integrated Karimnagar district unit felicitated the best teachers by presenting them with a shawl, a citation and memento. The mementoes were sponsored child psychologist Dr Jyothsna Rao. TRSMA leaders and correspondents of various schools also attended and extended solidarity to the candidature of Mr Shekhar Rao.
