



Sri Venkateswara Institute of Traditional Sculpture and Architecture is known as the only institute under the auspices of TTD in the state of Andhra Pradesh. It is a specialised institute that trains skilled individuals in the field of Indian traditional temple architecture and construction.
This institute helps in shaping students as guides to Indian culture and heritage. This institute trains students in temple architecture, sculpture and other related art forms. Established in the year 1960, TTD is providing training to students according to the principles of sculpture.
Courses Available
Diploma in Traditional Sculpture Course
Approved by the State Department of Technical Education and Training, AP and AICTE, New Delhi. This course has 6 sections with a duration of 4 years, including 1. Temple Architecture Section 2. Stone Sculpture Section, 3. Sudha Sculpture Section, 4. Metal Sculpture Section, 5. Wood Sculpture Section, 6. Traditional Painting Section.
Only ten students are admitted in each section every year. A total of 60 students are admitted in six sections. Candidates joining the diploma course must have passed the tenth standard.
Students are provided with free accommodation and food facilities. Students studying in the fourth year are sent to visit famous historical temples in South India for free to learn about temple architecture and sculpture.
There are extensive employment and job opportunities for those who have passed in stone sculpture.
Traditional Kalamkari Art (Certificate Course)
There is a 2-year certificate course in Kalamkari painting on textiles. 10 students who have passed the tenth standard in Kalamkari art can get admission in this course every year.
The admitted students will be provided free accommodation and food. Students studying the Kalamkari course can get self-employment. Kalamkari art is well-received in the country and abroad.
Admission
Students will be selected through an entrance examination in the month of May or June every year as per the policies of the state government.
Eligible candidates can apply from May 5 to June 20 for the year 2025-26. In the name of the students who have been admitted in the diploma and certificate courses, the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams will deposit Rs. 1 lakh in a national bank. This money will be given along with interest to establish themselves in this art and encourage them as per the rules and regulations of the management.
Employment Opportunities
Students trained here are getting opportunities as teachers in the same institution, as masons in the renovation department, as technical assistants, and as contractors. Apart from this, they are working in government departments like Endowments, Charities, Tourism and Archaeological Research and are also winning awards from many national organizations.
In the stone sculpture production department affiliated to the Shilpa Shikshan Samstha, some students are making idols of deities on contract basis.
