KARIMNAGAR, MAY 05, 2025: ‘No Shadow Day” (Zero Shadow Day), the celestial miracle, the shadow of a person will not be visible for two minutes from Monday, May 5, 2025, to May 14, 2025.

Convener of the Asteroids Search Campaign, B Odelu Kumar, said that this magnitude is called zero shadow. Normally, a person’s shadow is visible on one side, but from Monday to the 14th of this month, the sunlight will fall perpendicularly on us in some parts of the state, and the shadow will not be visible. Since the Earth’s axis is tilted by 23.5 degrees, the position of the sun changes in the north-south direction while rotating around the sun.
This typically occurs twice a year in the places between the Tropics of Cancer and Capricorn, where the sun’s rays fall perfectly perpendicular to the Earth at noon. Due to this, the shadow of vertical objects will completely disappear for two minutes, said Mr Odelu Kumar. The zero shadow will be very useful for astronomers to study the movement and position of the sun.
