Tiny tots of Sister Nivedita School celebrate National Mathematics day with enthusiasm

HYDERABAD, DECEMBER 20, 2024:  As a prelude to the National Mathematics Day which is celebrated on December 22 to commemorate the birth anniversary of Indian Mathematical genius Srinivasa Ramanujan, the Tiny tots of studying first and second grades at Sister Nivedita School, Ameerpet, Hyderabad, celebrated the National maths day with enthusiasm on Friday.

He independently discovered nearly 3,900 results. Most of his discoveries were (mostly identities and equations) thoroughly novel and proven highly unconventional results. Ramanujan’s discoveries include Ramanujan prime, Ramanujan theta function, partition formula and mock theta functions.

The air at Sister Nivedita School was buzzed with excitement as classes 1 and 2 celebrated Math Day with lots of fun and enthusiasm. Celebrations began with a warm welcome and inviting the Principal of the school. Some children dressed up like Srinivasa Ramanujan, Aryabhata and Shakundala Devi some of the famous mathematicians and spoke about their discoveries and inventions in Math. Students of classes 1 and 2 presented various concepts of Math like addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, measurement, and fractions and showcased their creativity and talent by explaining and having fun with experimental and hands-on learning.

Further, the programme continued with students dressed up like shapes and did a ramp walk on the stage. Finally, the programme concluded with a marvellous dance where the dance steps showcased the formulas of addition, subtraction, division and multiplication.

Addressing the gathering, the Principal of the school Dr.T.Lalitha Kumari and Chairman Dr Sudhakar Rao Polsani, and the Correspondent of the school Mr Hari Hara Prasad appreciated all the participants and encouraged everyone to practice Math sums every day as it is included in our daily lives and everywhere. How Math helps and tells us the value of time, how to use and spend money wisely, budgeting, calculating and critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
