Thirty-three floodgates of Yellampalli project lifted to release 3.75 lakh cusecs of water into river Godavari

PEDDAPALLI, SEPTEMBER 02, 2024: Following the incessant rains and copious inflows into the Sripada Yellampalli project in Ramagundam, the Irrigation authorities have lifted 33 floodgates to release 3.75 lakh cusecs of water downstream into the river Godavari on Monday.

In the afternoon, the irrigation authorities released 6.51 lakh cusecs of water into the river Godavari following heavy inflows into the project. Presently, the irrigation authorities are maintaining 14.8731 tmcs of water in the project against its full capacity of 20.175 tmcs following the continuous rains and heavy inflows into the project.

The project is receiving 2,98,397 cusecs of water including 2,15,147 cusecs from its catchment area and 83,250 cusecs of water from the Kaddam project. The outflow is being maintained at 3,75,508 cusecs by lifting 33 floodgates against a total of 62 gates.
