

World Tailor’s Day observed on February 28


KARIMNAGAR, MARCH 01, 2025: The Karimnagar District All Tailors Association has urged the government to provide free power supply to the tailoring shops and encourage and preserve the dedicated craftsmen who create and repair clothes, helping people look stylish and confident, in the Telangana state.
Participating in the World Tailor’s day celebrations in Karimnagar town on Friday (February 28, 2025), the tailors said that World Tailor’s Day is celebrated every year on February 28 as it was on this day William Howe (1819-1867) an American invented the first practical sewing machine, was born. Stating that the tailors are true artists in the fashion world, they said that they do not just sew fabric, but create an individual style, taking into account the peculiarities of the figure, fashion trends and customers’ wishes.
Reminding that the Government had been providing free power to the laundry shops and barber shops, the tailors urged the government to provide free power to the tailoring shops as well as to preserve the ancient art of sewing clothes. Expressing concern over the diminishing business of tailor shops with the advent of ready-made dresses, they urged the government to protect the ancient tailoring profession by providing free power. Tailors Mayura Laxman, Mayura Bhaskar, Polamapalli Sanjeev, Balu, Raju, Srinivas. Shankar, Krishna, Ramesh, Mallikarjun, Ravinder, Veeresham, Satyanarayana, Odela Raju and others were also present.
