

RAJANNA-SIRCILLA, MARCH 23, 2025: As part of the World Earth celebrations, the students of Telangana Social Welfare Residential Degree College for Women, Vemulawada, Rajanna-Sircilla district, observed the ‘Earth Hour’ by switching off the lights from 8.30 pm to 9.30 pm on the college premises on Saturday night. The students lighted earthen lamps and decorated them with flowers and colourful rangolies.

The Residential Degree College for Women has been a series of awareness programs and cultural performances on the importance of World Earth Day. The event highlighted the importance of environmental conservation, climate change awareness, and sustainable living.
As part of the celebration, students actively participated in skits, dances, and discussions, creatively conveying messages on energy conservation, afforestation, waste management, and the importance of reducing carbon footprints. The programme was graced by Principal K. Lavanya, Vice Principal B. Sumalatha, the Cultural Committee, and other faculty members, who encouraged students to adopt eco-friendly habits daily.
Additionally, the college also observed Earth Hour by switching off lights from 8:30 PM to 9:30 PM, symbolizing their commitment to reducing energy consumption and combating climate change. Discussions were held on energy-saving practices, environmental sustainability, and the role of youth in protecting the planet.
Speaking at the event, K. Lavanya emphasized the importance of collective efforts in preserving nature and urged students to become ambassadors of change. Faculty members and students shared their insights on sustainable living and pledged to take small yet impactful steps toward environmental protection.
The event concluded with a strong message on responsible living and environmental stewardship, leaving students motivated to contribute towards a greener and healthier planet.
