
RAJANNA-SIRCILLA, SEPTEMBER 04, 2024: Students of Government Degree College, Gambhiraopet, Rajanna-Sircilla, made the clay Ganesh idols of various sizes and designs in a bid to enlighten the people on the need to protect the environment on Wednesday.


The NSS, Women Empowerment Cell and Botany department conducted competitions for the students to make clay idols of Lord Ganesha. They procured the clay from nearby lakes and tanks, designed different varieties of clay idols, and won appreciation for their creativity. The students moulded Ganesh idols without using any colours.

Appreciating the students for their creativity, Principal V Vijaya Lakshmi called upon the students to worship only clay idols and discourage using Plaster of Paris (PoP) idols. She said immersion of the PoP idols was causing huge loss to the environment and water bodies with the accumulation of pollution.
She said that the clay idols are soluble and helps in the protection of nature from pollution. Students D Praveen, S Poojitha, M Bhargavi, A Praveen, V Renuka and others participated in the preparation of clay idols. Academic coordinator Prabhakar, NSS porgramme officer Paka Dharmapuri, IQAC coordinator Anjaneyulu, Women empowerment cell coordinator V Vani, TASK coordinator Sravan Kumar faculty members Adi Vishnu, KV Bixmaiah, Manohar, J Sucharan, Krishna Prasad, Mahesh and others were also present.
