Sister Nivedita School ushers in Dussehara festivities with religious fervour and gaiety

HYDERABAD, OCTOBER 01, 2024: Dussehra, also known as Vijayadashami, is a major Hindu festival celebrated in India. It is celebrated on the 10th day of the month of Ashvina. It marks the end of Navratri, the nine-night celebration dedicated to Goddess Durga.

Dussehra signifies the victory of Lord Rama over the demon Ravana, hence it symbolizes the triumph of good over evil.

Celebrating festivals is an integral part of learning at Sister Nivedita School, Ameerpet, Hyderabad. Keeping with the tradition, Dussehra was celebrated with religious festivity and cultural fervour. The school premise was transformed into a vibrant cultural hub, with colourful decorations. The programme began with a welcome speech by the students of the primary wing on the significance of the festival. The melodious songs and vibrant dances were performed by the enthusiastic students bringing in a festive mood.

Bathukamma is a festival that is celebrated in the state of Telangana.  Bathukamma, meaning mother goddess in the local dialect, is celebrated during the Durga Navratri, heralding the festive season in the region. Information regarding the importance of Bathukamma was also shared by young Niveditans.

The Chairman of the institution, Dr. Sudhakar Rao Polasani, the Correspondent of the institution, Rotarian Harihara Prasad and Principal Dr. T. Lalitha Kumari applauded and appreciated the performances. She greeted and extended her best wishes to everyone on the occasion.

Through such celebrations, students not only learn the significance behind the festival, they also learn to embrace other traditions and culture, thus building a close bond between the students.
