Sister Nivedita School student to take part in National Children’s Science Congress in Bhopal from August 28 to 31

HYDERABAD, AUGUST 19, 2024:  A science project designed by Shivam Banerjee, a class XII student from Sister Nivedita School, Ameerpet, Hyderabad, has been selected to participate in the 31st National Children’s Science Congress to be held between August 28 to 31, 2024, at Bhopal in Madhya Pradesh state.

The Telangana Council of Science and Technology (TGCOST) has successfully organised the State Level event Centre of Economic and Social Studies (CESS), Begumpet, Hyderabad. A total of 14 projects were selected for participation in the National Level 31st National Children’s Science Congress.

Shivam Banerjee will represent Hyderabad district for Telangana State at National Level. The title of his project is CERES under the subtheme Fostering Health, Nutrition and wellbeing.

Ceres, a pioneering web application utilizing computer vision (CV) and natural language processing (NLP), positions itself as a comprehensive answer to these critical issues in the food industry. Ceres operates with a dual motive: Combating food adulteration and diseases through CV and dispelling misconceptions via NLP. The application’s distinctiveness lies in providing accurate nutritional information initiated by CV and calculated based on the food item’s weight.

This multi-faceted approach makes Ceres a comprehensive tool addressing various facets of food safety and nutrition. The future scope envisions comprehensive optimization, increased accuracy through diverse data and adaptability to individual diets. In conclusion, Ceres stands as a groundbreaking initiative, offering a solution to the intricate problems of food integrity, nutritional misinformation and adulteration. With its commitment to leveraging technology for the betterment of food-related issues, Ceres represents a transformative force, ensuring a healthier and more informed future. Mrs Sudha Srinivasan PGT from Sister Nivedita school guided him through the project.
