HYDERABAD, AUGUST 19, 2026: Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) will continue to contribute to the country’s energy security by supplying adequate quantities of coal while also expanding its efforts in the renewable energy sector, said Singareni Chairman and Managing Director Dr. Buddhaprakash Jyoti.
He was speaking at a panel discussion on “Energy Security and Power Generation in India”, held on Wednesday as part of the Indian Energy Summit & Expo being held in Hyderabad.
Dr. Buddhaprakash Jyoti said that SCCL, a government-owned enterprise, has been contributing to the country’s energy requirements by supplying coal for several decades. As per the directions of the State Government, SCCL, GENCO and TRANSCO are working collectively to meet the power requirements of Telangana.
As part of its business diversification and expansion initiatives, SCCL has entered the fields of thermal power, solar power and critical minerals. However, he said that coal-based power generation is likely to remain in demand in the country for another four decades.

In view of this, SCCL plans to increase coal production in the coming years to meet the country’s growing energy requirements. At the same time, the company will continue to fulfil its responsibility in the renewable energy sector and contribute towards a balanced and sustainable energy future.
Professor Pawan Kumar Paranandi moderated the discussion. Sri Naveen Mittal, Special Chief Secretary, Energy Department, Government of Telangana, attended the Energy Summit.
