KARIMNAGAR, AUGUST 07, 2026: The integrated Karimnagar district sheep-rearers have decided to sell the fresh and high-quality, chemical-free meat through Manair Meat Mart in Karimnagar town.
In order to benefit the sheep-rearing farmers and ensure that they get a remunerative price for their produce and also save on commission charged by commission agents (middlemen), a Farmers Producer Organisation was formed with the sheep-rearing farmers as its members.
Realising economies of scale and better returns, these farmers have not only ventured into collaborative farming by forming an FPO, but also leapt a step forward and bagged a licence to operate its ‘Meat Mart’ in Karimnagar town and named it Manair Meat Mart, which was inaugurated at Anjanadri colony on the way to the LMD reservoir after Sri Peddamma temple in Karimnagar town. Incidentally, it is maintained by veterinary doctors.
The Manair Meat Mart was inaugurated by Deputy Mayor Y Sunil Rao along with NABARD DDM Jeyaprakash, FPO CEO Ramesh and others on Thursday. The NABARD has provided matching grant for the project. This FPO will act as a trailblazer for other FPOs operating in the state.
Stating that the FPO’s main motto is to sell meat directly to consumers and institutional buyers and to cut out middlemen and improve profit margins, FPO CEO Ramesh said that the Manair Meat Mart will provide quality and hygienic mutton for the health of the people of Karimnagar town. Focusing on bulk orders for functions, he said that they would provide door delivery services if the customer’s order is above half a kilogram of meat in Karimnagar. The customers can also select their choicest sheep or goat at the Meat Mart, which would be dressed and delivered, he stated. He said that they were also planning to sell chicken and fish at the meat mart very soon.
