
KARIMNAGAR, OCTOBER 19, 2024: Rich tributes were paid to former MLA, MLC, veteran Congress leader and Telangana Protagonist Velichala Jagapathi Rao on the occasion of his second death anniversary in Karimnagar town on Saturday.

The Congress leaders, municipal corporators and Velichala Rajender Rao Yuvasena representatives paid rich tributes to Mr Velichala Jagapathi Rao by garlanding his portrait in his house in Karimnagar town. They also recollected the services of Mr Jagapathi Rao as MLA, MLC and APMarkfed chairman.
Mr Jagapathi Rao hailed from Gundi village in Ramadugu mandal of Karimnagar district. In 1972, Rao was elected to the State Legislative Assembly for the first time from Jagtial constituency in the erstwhile united Andhra Pradesh on Congress ticket. He was a member of the Legislative Council from the Graduates’ Constituency during 1978.
He had won as an independent candidate from the Karimnagar Assembly constituency in 1989. Known for his organisational calibre, Mr Rao held several key positions including chairman of Markfed in undivided Andhra Pradesh.
Former MLAs Koduri Satyanarayana Goud and Arepalli Mohan, Congress leaders Akarapu Bhaskar Reddy, Wahajuddin, Tirupati Goud, PCC Secretary V Anjan Kumar, Municipal corporators Sarilla Prasad, Kashetti Lavanya Srinivas, Ganta Kalyani Srinivas, Akula Padma Prakas, Akula Narmada Narsaia, Chadagonda Bhuthi Reddy, Pittala Vinoda Srinivas, Nethikunta Yadaiah, Mendi Srilatha Chandrashekhar, K Bhuma Goud, Harsha Kiranmayi Mallesham, Nadipelli Ashok Rao, T Srinivas Rao, Rolla Satish, Velichala Rajender Yuva Sena representatives G Rajeshwar Reddy, K Parushuram Goud, Gummadi Ramesh, T Ravinder , G Brahmachari and others were also present.
