
RAMAGUNDAM, JANUARY 28, 2025: Environmental Public Hearing, TSTPP, Phase-2 (3×800 MW) was organised on Tuesday (January 28, 2025) at ZPHS Campus, TTS, Jyothinagar, in Peddapalli district.
Peddapallai Collector Koya Sree Harsha chaired the hearing and interacted with the public and the local leaders. The objective of this public environmental hearing was to obtain public consent for the construction of phase 2 of NTPC Telangana.
Discussions were held on the proposed three new power generation units, each with a capacity of 800 MW, and public opinions were heard. It may be recalled that this project of 4,000 MWs was sanctioned by the Union government as part of AP States Reorganisation Act of 2014 during bifurcation of Telangana state.
It is noteworthy that NTPC Telangana is already generating (1600 MW) of power through its two existing units, each with a capacity of 800 MW. Under Phase 2 of the project, three additional power generation units, each with a capacity of 800 MW, will be constructed, increasing the total power generation capacity of NTPC Telangana to 4000 MW.
After the successful completion of Phase 2, this power plant along with NTPC Ramagundam will become the largest power plant in the country in terms of production capacity.
During the program, several people raised social, economic & environmental concerns which were addressed by officials and also provided detailed information about the upcoming units.
They also suggested and proposed various activities to be undertaken by CSR-CD of NTPC (Ramagundam & Telangana) for the development of the nearby community.
All the stakeholders welcomed Phase-2 of the Telangana Project with open hearts including MLA, local bodies and PAPs for the development of this great Nation.
Concluding the event Mr Harsha said that we have given more than 5 hours to people and listened to all of your concerns, everything has been noted in the MOM which we will send to the concerned department.
Apart from the Collector, the event was attended by Additional Collector Jalda Arunasri Regional Officer, Telangana Pollution Control Board, Ramagundam, B. Bikshapati, EE, RDO, Gangaya, Ramagundam MLA Makkan Singh Raj Thakur, NBC central member Babar Salim Pasha, NTPC Telangana Project Head Chandan Kumar Samanta, representatives from NGOs, Educational Institutes, Environmental Specialist, social workers, experts from Medical & Law, Local leaders and as well as senior officials from the district and NTPC. Approximately 48 people spoke on the occasion. The program witnessed the participation of more than 3,000 people, including project stakeholders and representatives from nearby villages.
