NALGONDA, APRIL 01, 2026: A group of Adjunct Professors from Mahatma Gandhi University (MGU) visited the historic Chaya Someshwara Swamy Temple in Panagal on Wednesday, where they participated in Abhishekam rituals.
Explaining the historical importance of the temple, Priest Abhimalla Janakiram said, “Constructed in the mid-11th century by the Cholas, this temple features three Garbhalayas, forming a Trikutalayam complex dedicated to Shiva, Vishnu, and Surya. Devotees throng the temple during Maha Sivaratri.”
He also mentioned the temple would be open for Abhishekams and Archanas from 6 am to 12:30 pm, and other pujas between 5 pm and 7 pm. The temple is renowned for the continuous shadow that falls on its main Shivalingam, a testament to the exceptional architecture made possible by the thoughtful arrangement of stone pillars, showcasing the exquisite craftsmanship of the Chola era.

This architectural marvel draws visitors from various States and even other countries, the priest Abhimalla Janakiram added. “The Chaya Someshwara Swamy Temple stands as a noteworthy example of ancient Indian architecture’s scientific approach. Its precision and engineering continue to captivate scholars even today,” commented
