
KARIMNAGAR, OCTOBER 09, 2026: Students of Bhagavati High School, Bhagathnagar, in Karimnagar town, celebrated the pre-Bathukamma and Vijayadashami festivities with great splendour and devotion on Friday.
The programme was specially designed to convey the essence of Bathukamma, the festival that stands as a symbol of Telangana culture and traditions, and to highlight Vijayadashami as the festival that signifies triumph over evil. In these celebrations, students captivated everyone by taking various forms of the Nava Durga avatars. To reflect Bathukamma, the festival of Telangana, they displayed an array of Bathukammas crafted in different styles using various varieties of flowers. The Bathukammas adorned with colourful flowers, along with the festive attire of the students, added a special charm to the occasion.

Also, the students dramatised key episodes from the Indian epic Ramayana and explained the ideals of Lord Rama, values like righteousness, truth and justice. Through these exhibitions, students were made aware of Indian culture, traditions and moral values.
Chairman of the school, B Ramana Rao, said that the Bathukamma festival is a symbol of Telangana women’s intimacy, love for nature and the glory of flowers. The festival of Dasara signifies the victory of good over evil and righteousness over evil. He said that it is important to make children aware of our culture, traditions, family values and social unity through such festivals.
He congratulated the students, teachers and parents for making the event a grand success. He wished that more such events be organised, which would inculcate creativity and respect for traditions among students. He wished all the students, teachers and parents a peaceful, happy and safe Dasara holidays.
