

Conducts medical camp for students to select for the Girl Empowerment Mission (GEM)

RAMAGUNDAM, APRIL 07, 2025: In observance of World Health Day 2025, Dhanwanthari Hospital, NTPC Ramagundam organized a vibrant Health Walk within the township, aimed at promoting holistic well-being among employees and their families on Monday. The event was inaugurated by Mr Chandan Kumar Samanta, Executive Director (R&T) and Mrs Rakhi Samanta, President, Deepthi Mahila Samithi (DMS).
Adding to the significance of the occasion was the enthusiastic participation of General Managers, Heads of Departments, Chief Medical Officer Dr I.R. Lahri, Union members, NEAR representatives, DMS members, and the Aahwahan Wellness Committee. The Health Walk was flagged off with a motivational address by the Executive Director.
Girl Empowerment Mission 2025
As part of the upcoming Girl Empowerment Mission (GEM) 2025, a comprehensive medical check-up was organized on at Kakatiya Function Hall, PTS, Jyothinagar on Monday.
A total of 194 girls from four mandals participated in the screening process. Based on the evaluations, 120 girls will be selected to take part in a 28-day residential workshop, scheduled in May 2025—a transformative journey designed to empower, educate, and prepare them for a brighter future. This initiative marks a significant step towards building confidence and creating opportunities for young girls from nearby communities.
About GEM:
The Girl Empowerment Mission (GEM) was launched in 2018 at NTPC Vindhyachal, Rihand, and Singrauli, GEM quickly gained momentum due to its resounding success and expanded across various NTPC locations. NTPC Ramagundam hosted its first GEM workshop in 2019, marking the beginning of an unwavering commitment to empowering young girls and nurturing their aspirations.
In 2025, 120 girls from neighboring government schools will be selected for this transformative 28-day residential program. Each day begins with yoga sessions to rejuvenate both the mind and body, followed by nutritious meals. The curriculum includes English and Hindi grammar, computer literacy, mathematics, science, life skills, dance, karate, and various co-curricular activities, ensuring holistic development.
