
RAMAGUNDAM, JUNE 04, 2025: NTPC Ramagundam proudly marked the successful conclusion of the Girl Empowerment Mission (GEM) – 2025, a residential workshop designed to inspire and uplift young girls from nearby government schools.
The event commenced with the art exhibition inauguration followed by lighting of the lamp by Chief Guest, Koya Sree Harsha, Collector & District Magistrate, Peddapally, Guest of Honours, Chandan Kumar Samanta, Executive Director, Ramagundam & Telangana, Rakhi Samanta, President – Deepthi Mahila Samithi, Babar Salim Pasha, Central NBC member and other dignitaries.

A specially curated music video was launched during the event, capturing the essence of the Girl Empowerment Mission. It beautifully showcased the wide range of activities undertaken throughout the workshop and highlighted how the program is instilling confidence, vision, and purpose in the lives of these young girls.
Adding vibrance to the occasion, the GEM participants presented a cultural program featuring energetic dance performances, karate demonstrations, yoga displays, speeches, and a thought-provoking skit centred around the powerful message of Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao. Their performances truly added charm and inspiration to the entire event.
Rakhi Samanta, President of Deepthi Mahila Samithi, addressed the gathering with an inspiring message, encouraging the girls and urging their parents to stand firmly behind them. She emphasised that these young girls possess immense potential and, with the right support, can become future leaders, doctors, IAS officers, teachers, and communicators.
In his keynote address, Chandan Kumar Samanta, Head of Project (NTPC Ramagundam & Telangana), expressed deep pride in the progress and transformation witnessed among the 120 participating girls during the 28-day residential workshop.
Acknowledging the collective efforts behind the mission’s success, Shri Samanta lauded the unwavering dedication of the Ladies Club, coordinators, teachers, volunteers, and support staff. “Your compassion, mentorship, and belief in these young minds have truly made a difference,” he noted.
Koya Sree Harsha, Collector & District Magistrate, Peddapalli, appreciated NTPC’s commendable initiative – the Girl Empowerment Mission (GEM) Workshop–2025. He also acknowledged the organisation’s continued efforts towards the holistic upliftment of society through various impactful programmes.
Addressing the young participants, he remarked, “The transformation I see in you over these 28 days is remarkable. The confidence in your eyes and the way you carry yourselves on stage reflect the valuable learnings imparted during this workshop. But remember, this is just the beginning. The road ahead is long – stay dedicated, keep working hard, and success will surely follow.”

The workshop featured structured sessions on academics including English, Hindi, mathematics, science, and computer literacy, as well as activities focused on life skills, dance, karate, yoga, and health awareness. Special expert-led sessions covered vital topics such as menstrual hygiene, nutrition, personal safety, time management, and career awareness. The holistic curriculum was aimed at building confidence and expanding horizons for the girls.
The programme also includes a unique provision wherein 10 outstanding performers from the workshop will be enrolled in schools within the NTPC Township, ensuring continued support and a conducive learning environment.
All GMs, HOHR, HODs, senior members of DMS, representatives of Union and Associations, CISF, GEM Girls their parents, reporters and many employees were present at the event. More than 500 people witnessed the event.
As the event concluded with pride and inspiration, the Girl Empowerment Mission -2025 stood as a testament to NTPC’s resolve to not just power homes, but to power hopes- ensuring every girl gets the wings she needs to soar.
