RAJANNA-SIRCILLA, SEPTEMBER 24, 2024: The 5tth National Service Scheme (NSS) Foundation Day was celebrated with enthusiasm and fervour at Government Degree College in Sircilla textile town under the supervision of the NSS district nodal officer M Shakunthala on Tuesday.
The volunteers under the supervision of Principal D Shankar presented a variety of cultural shows including folk dances and solo dances. Besides the volunteers also recited the NSS song. The volunteers also delivered motivational speeches on the duties and responsibilities of NSS volunteers towards society.
JNTU(H) Sircilla principal Prof T Venugopal participated as Chief Guest. Speaking on the occasion, he applauded the students for coming to the forefront and taking part in such events. He said that the basic aim of NSS is to inculcate social welfare thoughts in the students and to provide service to society without any prejudice. He particularly mentioned humility as the tool to be used to lead a life which is instrumental for working in the service of humanity.
Principal D Shankar presented a formal welcome address. He briefed about the importance of NSS and the basic duties and activities performed by NSS volunteers for the community. NSS Programme officers Sharada, faculty members Sridhar Rao. Prasad, Krishna Prasad, Shoba Rani and others were also present.
