RAJANNA-SIRCILLA, NOVEMBER 07, 2024: NSS wing of Government Degree college, Sircilla, in association with My Bharath-Nehru Yuva Kendra, Karimnagar, conducted an awareness programme on drug abuse in Sircilla textile town on Thursday.
Prohibition and Excise Inspector P Rajashekhar Rao and Nehru Yuva Kendra District Youth Officer Venkata Rambabu sensitized students regarding the harmful effects of drug abuse. They also stressed on the formation of Anti-Drug club in the educational institutions . Under this initiative, a select students from the colleges will be designated ‘anti-drug champions’ to maintain vigil and sensitise their collegemates against drug abuse.
Principal Shankar underscored the need for conduct such awareness programmes to prevent students from using drugs and getting addicted to it. He said that the NSS volunteers should actively participate in anti-drug activities. Later, the students were administered pledge against the consumption of drugs. They also released posters pertaining to drug abuse. Vice Principal T Lavanya, NSS Unit-II programme officer and Sircilla district NSS nodal officer Markonda Shakuntala, NSS unit-I programme officer K Sharada, faculty members Prasad, Krishna Prasad, Narsaiah, Karuna and others were also present.
