MCK has converted entry points into parks and parking places for a premium without providing a public transport system
Surprisingly, the auto-wallahs converted the auto-stands into their homes by erecting cement benches
Several cement benches are found on the footpaths and pavements, which were converted into auto-stands at RTC bus station area, DCCB bank, Indira Chowk and other places
The autos blatantly flout the RTA norms with overloading of passengers, but Traffic cops make them go scot-free and target only two-wheelers.
KARIMNAGAR, SEPTEMBER 06, 2026: There are no dedicated spaces for two-wheelers and cars to park their vehicles on the busy and commercial roads in Karimnagar town, but concurrently, auto-rickshaw drivers frequently establish makeshift “addas” or auto stands right on active thoroughfares, exacerbating traffic bottlenecks and choking public pathways.
Thanks to the development of Karimnagar town under the Smart City project during the last 10-year period, the Municipal authorities have made everything as payment. If anyone wants to relax in a park, he has to pay to enter the park at Circus Grounds and Old High School grounds and separately pay for the parking of vehicles.
If anyone wants to visit the busy Tower Circle or Gunj area for shopping purposes, people have to shell out a lot at the Municipal parking place at the Old Municipal Guest House. The MCK authorities have made it very costly for the motoring public to drive and park in the town, as they have converted everything for a premium.

On the other hand, the autorickshaws convert every available roads and thoroughfares as the ‘auto stands’ by erecting signboards without any permission from the authorities concerned and cause traffic snarls. However, the Traffic police impose e-challans only on vehicles parked on the road on charges of wrong and illegal parking. But, the autos can go scot-free despite encroaching on roads and converting them as their ‘addas’
How can the MCK collect parking fees from the vehicle owners when it failed to provide public transport system at the integrated Development of Small and Medium Towns (IDSMT) shopping complex constructed on the premises of the old Municipal guest house in Karimnagar town, questions Lok Satta Udyama Samstha Karimnagar district unit.
Commuters argue that reckless driving by autorickshaw drivers, illegal parking and encroachments are the primary causes of traffic snarls, particularly at Bus stand area, DCCB bank, Tower circle, Sri Venkateshwara Swamy temple, Doctors street, Mancherial cross roads, Indira chowk and other areas. Many blame auto-rickshaw for poor driving discipline, while shopkeepers occupying footpaths with their merchandise further exacerbate the situation.
People of the town appealed to the Traffic and MCK authorities to remove the encroachments of the footpaths by traders and allow pedestrians to walk on them. First eradicate the encroachments of roads and check auto-menace, which are the main cause of accidents in Karimnagar town, before imposing e-challans on motorists. The autos blatantly flout the RTA norms with overloading of passengers, but Traffic cops make them go scot-free and target only two-wheelers.
