Directed to increase manpower and work in three shifts
Corridor must be made available to public within 2026
HYDERABAD, AUGUST 11, 2026: “No negligence. No excuses. No extension.” Roads & Buildings and Cinematography Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy has issued a stern directive to officials and the construction agency to complete the Uppal Elevated Corridor within the committed deadline, making it clear that delays will not be accepted.
Reviewing the progress of the Uppal Elevated Corridor at the Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Telangana State Secretariat on Tuesday, Minister Komatireddy came down heavily on the slow pace of execution and directed officials and the work agency to speed up the project immediately.
“We gave our word to the people. We said the corridor would be completed by Dasara 2026. We have to deliver on that promise. There is no question of going back,” Minister Komatireddy said.
Minister Komatireddy pointed out that commuters have been suffering from severe traffic congestion on the Uppal–Narapally stretch for years and said the government will not continue to watch people face the same hardship.
“Increase manpower. Work in three shifts.”
Minister Komatireddy directed the construction agency to immediately increase manpower and operate in three shifts and ordered that works should continue during the night from 11 PM to 6 AM without interruption, wherever feasible, and made it clear that every available opportunity must be utilised to accelerate the project. The 6.25-km BT road beneath the corridor must be completed by the end of August, he ordered.
Minister Komatireddy further directed that construction be accelerated simultaneously from both Narapally (CPRI) and Uppal sides, with launching girders deployed from both ends.
“Don’t come to me asking for an extension”
During the review, the construction agency sought an extension of the deadline, citing rains and the additional time required for night-time construction.
Minister Komatireddy expressed his displeasure and made it clear that the solution was to increase the speed of execution, not to extend the deadline.
“We have already fixed October 31, 2026 as the deadline. Think about the traffic problems faced by the people. Increase manpower, work harder and complete the project.”
Minister Komatireddy directed the agency to step up the pace of construction, following which the agency assured him that it would complete six slabs every month.
60% completed — pace must now accelerate
Officials and representatives of the construction agency informed Minister Komatireddy that nearly 60% of the corridor works have been completed and 300 workers are currently working in two shifts, with four beds and four gantries for segment fabrication and out of the 142 spans, 51 have already been completed.
Officials also informed the Minister that on the Uppal side, one slab has been completed and work on the second slab is in progress.
Minister Komatireddy also directed that the pace be accelerated further and that work progress should be monitored every single day.
“I will review the ground situation every 10 days”
Minister Komatireddy directed officials to prepare a daily work progress report and keep a close watch on execution at every stage and announced that he would personally conduct a field-level inspection every 10 days and review the actual progress at the site.
Minister Komatireddy also sought accurate information on the ground situation from officials and the construction agency, and made it clear that there would be no room for excuses or inflated progress reports.
GHMC told to move in tandem
Minister Komatireddy also reviewed the progress of the GHMC flyover works connected to the corridor and directed R&B officials to coordinate closely with GHMC to ensure that the related works be proceed simultaneously, and completion of one component does not hold up the entire corridor.
“2026 — the corridor must open, come what may”
Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy categorically directed the R&B officials and construction agency to ensure that the Uppal Elevated Corridor is opened to the public within 2026 under any circumstances.
He said that under the leadership of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, the people’s government is committed to delivering projects within the promised timelines and providing relief to citizens.
“People have endured these traffic problems for years. We gave them a commitment. Now it is our responsibility to deliver. Everyone must work with determination and ensure that the Uppal corridor becomes a reality within the deadline,” Minister Komatireddy said.
R&B Chief Engineer Dharma Reddy, senior officials and representatives of the construction agency attended the review meeting.
