KARIMNAGAR, SEPTEMBER 01, 2026: A comprehensive Fire Fighting and Safety Awareness Programme was conducted for NCC cadets at the NCC camp, in collaboration with the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), Telangana, with the objective of creating awareness about fire prevention, emergency response and safety measures on Tuesday.
During the programme, HC Surender and Yadagiri, SDRF personnel, demonstrated various fire-fighting techniques and explained the precautions to be taken during fire emergencies. They gave detailed demonstrations on how to identify and respond to LPG gas leakage, the dangers associated with gas leakage, and the appropriate methods to prevent and control fire accidents.
The SDRF personnel explained the proper use of different types of fire extinguishers and demonstrated how they can be effectively used to put out fires. They also demonstrated the use of a water jet in controlling and extinguishing fire, explaining the importance of maintaining a safe distance and following proper procedures while dealing with a fire emergency.
The cadets were given an opportunity to gain hands-on practical experience in fire-fighting methods. They actively participated in the demonstrations and practised the correct handling and operation of fire extinguishers under the guidance of the SDRF personnel. The practical training helped the cadets understand how to respond calmly and effectively during unexpected fire emergencies.
The trainers also highlighted the importance of fire prevention, evacuation procedures, emergency preparedness, first response and public safety. They advised the cadets to remain alert and to immediately inform the concerned authorities in case of fire or LPG leakage rather than taking unnecessary risks.
The programme was conducted under the guidance of 9 Telangana Battalion NCC Commanding Officer Colonel A. K. Jayantha, SM, and Jangbaz Khan. Lt. P. Raju, Lt. Srikala, V. Rajesh, Prakash and Subedar Vijay Kumar, along with NCC ANOs, staff and NCC cadets, participated in the programme.
Speaking on the occasion, the NCC authorities appreciated the SDRF team for providing valuable practical training to the cadets. They stated that such programmes are highly beneficial because NCC aims not only to inculcate discipline, leadership, patriotism and social responsibility, but also to equip cadets with essential life-saving and emergency-response skills.
The cadets expressed their gratitude to the SDRF personnel for providing them with valuable practical knowledge and an opportunity to experience fire-fighting techniques first-hand. The programme concluded with a message to the cadets to act as responsible citizens and spread awareness about fire safety and disaster preparedness among their families and communities.
The programme was attended by SDRF personnel, NCC officers, ANOs, NCC staff and a large number of NCC cadets, making it an important and practical learning experience for all participants.
